STRONG WIND SHOWED NO MERCY LAST NIGHT
Miri, 24 july 2010: A strong wind showed no mercy to the land of Miri last night. 5 cars were flipped, 2 buildings were broken, many trees were broken down and 5 losing life while 2 are missing. This tragedy was happened at 8.00 o’clock in the evening. It started by rain and eventually the weather became worse with the wind which become stronger until caused many losing. At campus Sarawak Teaching Institute, seems that more losing of facilities rather than life. From one of the trainer, said that the disaster was so bad and fell worry if the sea water will rise up and destroy the building and people that live in the institute last night. Inspector Shandan Udjard said that, ‘all citizens should calm down and do not go near the ocean just to warn that this bad disaster will take your life’. The inspector also said that, police department will cooperate with hospital and fire department to overcome this problem. The department will inform any news at future and find method to overcome losing of life and needs full cooperation with all the citizens.
MIRI - On the last Saturday, Miri faced with a bad weather which is very dangerous to community. The students of Teacher Training Institute at Jalan Bakam which is near by the sea said that they heard the "Alarm of Tsunami" from their neighbour, Sekolah Menengah Sains on that day.
Elrine, a student of Teacher Training Institute said, "Our institute and all of the areas around Miri was struck by the strong wind at the night of Saturday.All of us wonder why it happened and its really made us scared to went out of our room.
As bad wather such that strong wind will make peoples will ask to themselves like "Is Tsunami will be happen at Miri?" The another information told that the strong wind which recently happen at Miri is came from the area of Philipphine, but the real reason why the strong wind happen hasn't found yet.
According to this situation, an advice for people who live near by the sea, we should be careful all the times and make sure that our children will not go outside when the strong wind show itself again.
A strong wind that blew 40 knots for about half an hour starting 8.30p.m last night causing damage to Ramli Talib’s house and minor destruction to some of the citizens’ properties who lived along the coastal side of Miri. Mr. Ramli Talib, 40, who lived at Lot 110 Ocean Park, was shocked when suddenly a big mango tree behind his house fell and destroyed his kitchen. “My family and I were watching TV during that time when we heard a loud crashing sound came from the kitchen’s room,” said Mr. Ramli. Miri firefighter and police had done the investigation and found no casualty. Local Police Chef ACP Jamaluddin Ibrahim said that the strong wind last night could cause casualty and advised the citizens to be more careful. “The citizens should be more careful during bad weather and be aware of their own safeties especially with the changing weather nowadays,” said Police Chef ACP Jamaluddin Ibrahim.
IPG Kampus Sarawak Miri, Sunday, 4th July 2010 – The Religious and Moral Department of IPG Kampus Sarawak Miri had organized a program called ‘Keindahan Bersamamu (KBM)’ in collaboration with Kem Remaja JIM (KRJ). The moderator of the program who is known as Pak Lang came all the way from Johor together with his team to make the program a success.
The participants of the program were all muslim trainees of the institutes. KBM was held for two days starting from the 3rd July and continued till the next day. The program was aimed to improve and enhance the participant’s relationships not only with their friends, family and the community but also includes their relationship with Allah SWT and Prophet Muhammad SAW.
KBM included activities such as talks and motivation session and doing some interactive activities with Pak Lang. At the end of the program, participants did not only gain experiences, but indeed they gained bonuses which is a fully improved one-self physically, emotionally and spiritually. When asked, most of the participants commented that they enjoyed KBM very much. Well, there is good news for them as there will be a ‘KBM Kembali’ program which is scheduled to be held on the 1st August 2010 at the institute. The organizer sure will be looking forward for the increase in participations of the trainees.
GRAND SALE OF THE 10th ANNIVERSARY OF BOULEVARD SHOPPING MALL
MIRI: It is a common thing for the shopping center to hold an annual mega sale, or saving sale in conjunction with their anniversary.
The Boulevard Shopping Mall, now in its 10th year, is having its anniversary sale. Hundreds of people flocked to the mall as the Boulevard Grand Sale kicked off last few weeks. The sale which will run for one month is an opportunity for all the bargain hunters to find the best deals. It ends on August 1.
One of the shoppers, Miss Ivina who is still studying in local institute said," When it comes to shopping, indeed most of us prefer buying groceries in low prices. This kind of sale is something that I really waiting for. For still being a student, it is a must for me to save money. Thus, if there is a sale, I will grab the chance to do the shopping and I can surely save lots of money.”
With the sale, shoppers can shop for latest designed clothes, groceries, home decor items and electrical appliances. Most of the goods are sold at high-discounted price. The price has been slashing by at least 70%.
Miri, 24 July 2010-"She was a great model" said Helen who was one of the judges during Miss Sarawak Model 2010 competition.The event was held at EastWood hall and it's process was smoothly. 15 participants participated that competition last night. All the participants were very beautiful and they had a complete package to be a model.During the event some of the spectators were ex Miss Sarawak Model 2009.Actually before the competition held the participant must do some charity activity at 'house of hope'.The judge will judge them based on all aspect included their personality. One of the participant said that the reason she participated this competition was she wanted all Sarawakians knew her based on her personality and ability to be a model. Besides, she wanted to be a glamour. The end of the event was very interesting. Suraya Hani was a Miss Sarawak Model 2010. she was very touched.
“I Thought It Was Coming”. By Nathaneal Anak Chemaline (1MTBIM). ‘The Newly Post’. It happened about 4.30 p.m when many young people planned to play at the field. Government servants and employees seem to be busy packing for home. Traffic was extremely harsh and chaotic at that very day. Well, for Miri’s citizen it is normal for them and just seemingly some were having their ‘Saturday’s Cook’ at home, resting with their family. The strong wind appeared and alerted up every single breath in Miri. It was first thought to be normal, however it tremendously blown up things that stop it. Dried leaves were of course the first to get into the show together with hanged clothes and pieces of wood branches. The unusual wind too had visited Ali’s home. Some of his belongings outside his house scattered all over his house compounds. “I thought it was coming. I never felt so terrified although it was just about half an hour time. I’m thought it was the Tsunami or any other wind disasters. I pray hard while it happened and thank God it was just an emergency alarm from Him,” said Mr. Ali, one of the teacher in SMK Riam Road. It is yet not the moment of doom for some of the citizens. God’s power alerted Miri that day and maybe it’s just a message for them to be prepared for something really big in the future. It too make them realized that Malaysia is no longer disaster-free. We as Malaysians should be always thankful for where we are and we should be careful before the real disaster come and silence us.
By Lee Hong Seng MIRI: The public defence department (SPA), recently has put on Tsunami alarm around Miri Esplanade due to the unpredictable rainy season in Miri around this July and August. The alarms will be signalled out danger of strong current at the beach toward the people nearby the neighbourhood so further action can be taken immediately. The alarm were build at that places because the area are not so high from the sea level and have many resident that stay at that places including a school and a teacher trainee institute also allocated there. Hence precaution steps were to be taken first in case the strong current suddenly strikes to a critical level which very dangerous to stay on.
Miri : Sarawak Campus Training Teacher was organising Sports Day yesterday. The Sports Day started at 7.00 am and ended at 5.00 pm. There are many kind of sports was being organised such as athletics, soccer, futsal, hockey, tennis, sepak takraw, handball, basketball, volleyball, badminton and ping pong. Sports Day in 2010 was showing many improvement since a few years ago. Numbers of sports which organised had been increasing. The competition among competitor is also interesting. The number of medal for each team was not far from each other. At the evening, Vygotsky team announced as the champion with 15 gold medals. Pavlov team as the runner-up with 14 gold medals and Maslov team in the third place with 12 gold medals. The last place was Gagne team with 10 gold medals. Meanwhile, Shukuri Basri from 1MTBIM is announced as the best male athlete after he broke 3 institute records in athletics and the best female athlete is going to Dinesha Vairappan that got three gold medals in a row for long distance event. The winners for each event will be represent the institute in Miri Open next month.
On 17th July 2010, the cloud surrounded the Luak Esplanade and the tide became high. The wind blows so strongly until making some of the coconut trees fell to the ground. The safety guard switched on the siren and ordered the people to get out of the water. They also were asked to stay away from the water. The sirens were so loud until the Teacher’s Training Centre, Campus Sarawak, Miri and Taman Tunku area.
The incident happened 8.10 a.m. that day. A team from Meteorology Department of Miri district arrived at the scene and made some researches about the strong wind. They said that, the strong winds come from the South China Sea and it reached 185 kilometer per hour. It causes the waves of the sea became high and it can harm the people at the beach.
The head of the meteorologist team, Mr. Sariffudin Dollah said, “This is one of the tsunami’s sign. We must be conscious and take safety measure early in order to avoid the unwanted things from happening.” He also said that, for the time being, people are forbidden from reaching the beach until the sign of the tsunami has ended.
Blackout for Jalan Bakam Miri, 25th July 2010 – The whole area in Jalan Bakam included the Teacher Training Institute were facing the blacked out for about continuously three hours. The incident took place when it is comes to the peak hours, when people coming back from works. It affected the traffic light there, caused the serious traffic jam that never happen before at Jalan Bakam. As the traffic light cannot function, there are car accidents between Produa Myvi and a lorry. Both of the vehicles comes from the opposite way and suddenly the traffic light not function. There is no serious injured were reported. Sooner the police traffic comes and handles the traffic jam there and also the vehicle accident. The heavy rain and the strong wind at that time difficult the police traffic to do their job. The lightening caused the tree fall down and hitting the electric cable. The serious broken happen at the few places in Jalan Bakam too, causing the blackout incident.
NAME: VIANNEY JAINOL Unstoppable rainy season MIRI, July 26- The rainy has continued for five days and it seems that it will be continually for three more days. Most of the students in IPG Campus Sarawak were worried about this condition as it brings many difficulties to them. One of an active student in sports said, “I cannot play volleyball every evening. I cannot just stay in this limited room without doing anything. I’m bored”. Besides that, the female students were stressed because they cannot wash their clothes. Doris said “I hate this rain. I had spent almost RM30 for laundry. It’s a waste.” Mostly, this rainy had given more on negative side effects than the positive one. Different from the male students, they seem very love it because it is the right time for them to sleep.
MIRI: The Teacher Education Institute Sarawak Campus MIRI (IPG) hosting an English Language Camp 2010 during the English language week in Sekolah Menengah Sains Miri. The language camp organised was 90% handled by the 16 teacher trainees of the B. Ed TESL 2009 July intake group and 7 volunteers from the PPISMP Mathematics 2009 July intake group. The consultant for this language camp is Mr Nosarihan Ahmad, an English lecturer in IPG Sarawak Campus MIRI.
There were 210 students of SM Sains Miri participated in the language camp. The camp was organised for two days starting from 2nd July 2010 until 3rd July 2010. Various activities were carried out during the language camp such as language games, treasure hunt and talent time.
The English Language Camp was aimed to develop interest participants in English, show off their talent and practise the team work among the participants. At the end of the camp, all the participants commented that they enjoyed very much in the language camp with all the facilitators.
One of the in charged English teachers of SM Sains Miri, Miss Khairunnisa bt Ibrahim said, “All the teacher trainees from IPG Sarawak Campus Miri had done their work really well and they had made the language camp succeed. Well done.”
MIRI: The charity football match was held at Miri Multiple Council Football Field (MMC) yesterday where Baram FC team against United FC team. This charity tournament was won by FC Baram team with three goals, while United FC is satisfied with only one goal.
This tournament was organized by Miri Caring Group, led by Mr. Garusin. His said that this event aims to raise funds to help those less fortunate around Miri. The profit of the tickets that was sold from this event is channelled to Taman Penyayang Orphanage Home.
The people that watched the match were very happy because they can get entertainment and doing charity at the same time. At the end of the event, Mr. Garusin said,“I hope that this kind of the event can be held constantly in order to help people who are less fortunate.”
Poor Calvin, By Doris Seli. MIRI, Tuesday. – A trainee of IPG Sarawak Campus had broken his right arm during playing the volley ball. That incident was happened on Monday, at 5.40 p.m. More than ten trainees were played the volley ball at that time at the volley ball’s court. The volley ball’s captain, Johari said that the day was drizzle at that time. However, the game was still going on. “Suddenly, I heard a cried from Calvin. He was felt when he tried to catch up the volley ball,” added Johari. Calvin was given outpatient treatment at a private clinic. His condition was at a stable condition. The lecturer who in charge the volley ball’s game, Miss Florence, said that all the players should be more careful next time. She also reminds them to follow the rules and stated that no one could play during the bad weather.
CULTURAL NIGHT IPG Sarawak Campus Miri, Saturday, 3th July 2010 – The teacher trainees of IPG Sarawak Campus organised a Cultural Night. This event was held at the IPG Sarawak Campus Hall and the event started at 7pm. The purpose of this event is to built a good relationship among the trainees and to add more knowledge about the racial n races that lived in their campus. All the trainees were wearing variety of cultural dresses. Besides that the trainees also showed some of their performance regarding the cultural such as Tarian Zapin, Lion Dance, Tarian Kadazan and etc. Moreover they also served variety of food like malay food, Chinese food, Indian food, Iban food and etc. According to one of the trainees, this is the tenth anniversary that their campus is having such event. Besides that, Mr. Rahman bin Asmad, one of the lecturer told that such event like this encourage the trainees to know the cultural of the other races and this will help them when they become a teacher to teach their students as well to be in 1Malaysia.
Miri, 22th July 2010 : The citizens of Miri were put into worries when a beautiful silent night suddenly turned into horror by strong wild winds. At first, people thought that it was normal but as the winds continued for about an hour, it came into thought of Miri’s citizens that something bad will happen that night. They stayed in their homes and the roads were also quiet with only several cars. The winds were so strong that tree branches and leaves were everywhere to see. Traffics were also disturbed by fallen branches. There were greater worries for those who lives near to the Esplanade. Every minds in Miri came into the same thought that Tsunami could strike Miri. The strong winds also caused blackouts in certain areas such as Luak.Several accidents were also reported on that night.Many bad things can happen in this situation.Police Chief ACP Jamaluddin Ibrahim advises Miri’s citizens to be prepared and always be careful especially in this rainy season together with strong winds. It’s best that they stayed in their homes and be alert for warnings on televisions or radios. The Public Defense Department of Miri had also put on Tsunami alarm near Esplanade for safety measures.

One of an active student in sports said, “I cannot play volleyball every evening. I cannot just stay in this limited room without doing anything. I’m bored”.
Besides that, the female students were stressed because they cannot wash their clothes. Doris said “I hate this rain. I had spent almost RM30 for laundry. It’s a waste.”
Mostly, this rainy had given more on negative side effects than the positive one. Different from the male students, they seem very love it because it is the right time for them to sleep.
AN ENGLISH LANGUAGE CAMP IN SM SAINS MIRI
ReplyDeleteMIRI: The Teacher Education Institute Sarawak Campus MIRI (IPG) hosting an English Language Camp 2010 during the English language week in Sekolah Menengah Sains Miri. The language camp organised was 90% handled by the 16 teacher trainees of the B. Ed TESL 2009 July intake group and 7 volunteers from the PPISMP Mathematics 2009 July intake group. The consultant for this language camp is Mr Nosarihan Ahmad, an English lecturer in IPG Sarawak Campus MIRI.
There were 210 students of SM Sains Miri participated in the language camp. The camp was organised for two days starting from 2nd July 2010 until 3rd July 2010. Various activities were carried out during the language camp such as language games, treasure hunt and talent time.
The English Language Camp was aimed to develop interest participants in English, show off their talent and practise the team work among the participants. At the end of the camp, all the participants commented that they enjoyed very much in the language camp with all the facilitators.
One of the in charged English teachers of SM Sains Miri, Miss Khairunnisa bt Ibrahim said, “All the teacher trainees from IPG Sarawak Campus Miri had done their work really well and they had made the language camp succeed. Well done.”

Baram FC Wins Charity Football Match
ReplyDeleteMIRI: The charity football match was held at Miri Multiple Council Football Field (MMC) yesterday where Baram FC team against United FC team. This charity tournament was won by FC Baram team with three goals, while United FC is satisfied with only one goal.
This tournament was organized by Miri Caring Group, led by Mr. Garusin. His said that this event aims to raise funds to help those less fortunate around Miri. The profit of the tickets that was sold from this event is channelled to Taman Penyayang Orphanage Home.
The people that watched the match were very happy because they can get entertainment and doing charity at the same time. At the end of the event, Mr. Garusin said,“I hope that this kind of the event can be held constantly in order to help people who are less fortunate.”

MIRI, Tuesday. – A trainee of IPG Sarawak Campus had broken his right arm during playing the volley ball.
That incident was happened on Monday, at 5.40 p.m. More than ten trainees were played the volley ball at that time at the volley ball’s court.
The volley ball’s captain, Johari said that the day was drizzle at that time. However, the game was still going on. “Suddenly, I heard a cried from Calvin. He was felt when he tried to catch up the volley ball,” added Johari.
Calvin was given outpatient treatment at a private clinic. His condition was at a stable condition.
The lecturer who in charge the volley ball’s game, Miss Florence, said that all the players should be more careful next time. She also reminds them to follow the rules and stated that no one could play during the bad weather.

IPG Sarawak Campus Miri, Saturday, 3th July 2010 – The teacher trainees of IPG Sarawak Campus organised a Cultural Night. This event was held at the IPG Sarawak Campus Hall and the event started at 7pm.
The purpose of this event is to built a good relationship among the trainees and to add more knowledge about the racial n races that lived in their campus. All the trainees were wearing variety of cultural dresses. Besides that the trainees also showed some of their performance regarding the cultural such as Tarian Zapin, Lion Dance, Tarian Kadazan and etc. Moreover they also served variety of food like malay food, Chinese food, Indian food, Iban food and etc.
According to one of the trainees, this is the tenth anniversary that their campus is having such event. Besides that, Mr. Rahman bin Asmad, one of the lecturer told that such event like this encourage the trainees to know the cultural of the other races and this will help them when they become a teacher to teach their students as well to be in 1Malaysia.
“BAD SIGN FOR MIRI”
ReplyDeleteMiri, 22th July 2010 : The citizens of Miri were put into worries when a beautiful silent night suddenly turned into horror by strong wild winds. At first, people thought that it was normal but as the winds continued for about an hour, it came into thought of Miri’s citizens that something bad will happen that night. They stayed in their homes and the roads were also quiet with only several cars. The winds were so strong that tree branches and leaves were everywhere to see. Traffics were also disturbed by fallen branches. There were greater worries for those who lives near to the Esplanade. Every minds in Miri came into the same thought that Tsunami could strike Miri. The strong winds also caused blackouts in certain areas such as Luak.Several accidents were also reported on that night.Many bad things can happen in this situation.Police Chief ACP Jamaluddin Ibrahim advises Miri’s citizens to be prepared and always be careful especially in this rainy season together with strong winds. It’s best that they stayed in their homes and be alert for warnings on televisions or radios. The Public Defense Department of Miri had also put on Tsunami alarm near Esplanade for safety measures.
