  1. yes...i'm totally agree with the statement that SMS corrupting our language...this is because when we are writing the SMS, we are always using the short form of the words..sometimes, we also mixed the language that we use and this will make some people misunderstand the concept..this also will make others spread the same concept and when the concept are taken by the teenagers that uneducated, it will be different and can destroy our language ...=)

  2. i absolutely agree with this statement..
this is because mostly people use the abbreviation of words in sms and it contributes to the language corruption..
moreover, people nowadays like to mixed the language and tend to create the new words that are unfamiliar to us...

  4. Indeed. We strongly believe that by using abbreviation in sms it defenitely will corrupt our languange. Teenagers especially prefer abbreviation rather that using full sentence because it is easier. In contrast, it also sometime hard to understand and can lead to missunderstanding. Some student really love to use abbreviation even in the exam.

We are agree with this issue. SMS is corrupting our language by spelling wrongly and we use a shortform to make it easier to read. Besides that, SMS also makes our grammar up side down. this is not a good habit to train us to improve our language.

Otherwise, SMS also makes people lazy to communicate orally. Morover, teenagers thinks that using a shortform in SMS as a trend nowadays. So,when they are not follow the trend their freinds will think that they are not up to date person. This issue also from the bad influence from freinds.

  6. yes...we are completely agree with this statement
that sms is really corrupting our language...
the old folks nowadays are getting harder to understand and to communicate with the young peoples..this condition is contributed by the using of the abbreviation of words that are mostly prefered in sms...
thus, it can destroy and corrupting our languange that has been used a long time ago....

  7. I believe that using abbreviation in SMS definitely corrupting our language such as in Bahasa Malaysia. Consequence from that are many of us are difficult to read and understand what are the sender trying to inform us with their own abbreviation. They try to abbreviate the word short as they could. SMS that the sender send to the recipient only content consonants and that are out of any language that are exist in this world. So I agree that SMS is corrupting the language.

  8. Yes, because usually people will use abbreviation in their sms. Abbreviation is a modification to the words in sms which will make the word more simple. This will shorten their time to type sms and save cost on sms service. But, the use of abbreviation too often can lead to language corruption. This is because the particular persons sometimes bring the "sms culture" in their academic writings.
Besides that, the use of many languages in a time can lead to language corruption. The use of mix languages such as Malay and English, it will broken the grammar structure of the both languages. In this situation, it will the language skill of the particular persons become worse.
To overcome this problems, as a mobile phone user, we should avoid the use of abbreviation in sms. Make sure that we don't use more one languages in a time. It will be nice if we use only one language in a time...

  9. I strongly agree with this statement. This is because the use of SMS in the community now result in a mixed language. The existence of mixed language can affect the learning of Malay and English in school that long-term negative impact. If these issues are not dealt with a short time the beautiful language that we have now will be destroyed...

we are totally agree with this statement. this is because, nowadays almost of the people use the sms for comunication but they were misunderstood about the sms. they use the sms in the short form and not short message that need to spell in full spelling. so, it will give effect to the our pronounsation, grammar and we do not know how to spell correctly because of we always use in short form. so,sms corrupting our language especially our national language.

I still with my opinion that is sms not corrupting our language...we need to make changes with using the sms in our daily life..for me,,sms is the best way to give information in one second..besides..we need to look forward and up to date..some people are worried about the corruption of our national language(Bahasa Melayu) through abbreviation, newly created word or symbols in their sms..but..sms has opened up new opportunities for our national language to survive if we know how to use it..("~)...

  16. We had "mouth war" previously in the debate (Is SMS corrupting our language?)
Some of us agreed but some are not.

    Our result is...
    ADVANTAGES

    1. To avoid limited message lengths allowed per message.
    2. Longer message often requiring the text message to be sent in multiple parts and therefore costing more to send.
    3. where users would abbreviate some words to allow a response to be typed more quickly
    4. the amount of time saved is often inconsequential.
    5. More effort is required to type each character, and there is a limit on the number of characters that may be sent.
    6. reduces the labour of time-consuming input.
    7. get straight to the point instead a long message.
    8. SMS allows users to eliminate the transient also avoid the time and cost.
    9. Limited character per message plus the troublesome text entry on a mobile phones limited size keyboard encourages text messages to be kept short.
    10. Understanding of the properties of both written and spoken language and then applying them to the language used in text messages, we will be able to see how this new vocabulary has formed and why users make use of linguistic short-cuts.
    11. SMS is unique with regards language selection, more like a written form of speech.
    12. Despite the various features of written language one can find in text messages, SMS cannot be considered ‘written’.
    13. SMS, to define it simply as written language because of its written medium would be to ignore a large portion of characteristics that differentiate the language of SMS from the language of standard writing.
    14. Language of SMS is in a written medium and therefore cannot possess many features of spoken language, it cannot be defined as spoken any more accurately than it can be defined as written because of its written medium.
    15. The language of SMS is combination of numerous aspects of two very different types of communication and can only be described as a spoken mode in a written medium.
    16. Text messages that make use of language short cuts give the impression of immediacy and ease and spontaneity to the written text.

    DISADVANTAGES
use of sms will corrupting our language because it will effect to the our pronounsation, grammar and the short form also will influence and demage our writing. what the important is sms corupting our language

  17. I totally agreed that smscan corrupting our languge. The influence of the use of short words can lead to declining quality of language.Non-use of language can not be summarized in the SMS, but let enough and be in place. Do not reach the recipients could not understand the concept of communication once the damage should run smoothly.More annoying when the SMS was sent to parents who are usually not too young to understand style that often likes to experiment with the use of abstract words or sway language often selanga until they (parents) complained.everyone knows that the use of SMS language can save the cost of credit and easy to understand but not everyone understand what you want to say.the uses of sms language universally demeaning language, and influence children's future.

  18. My opinion is SMS got both advantages and disadvantages. It depends on the person to make the different in between. We all know SMS is only for communication and not a written letter. It allows users to eliminate the transient also avoid the time and cost, in other words just get straight to the point instead a long message. SMS is unique with regards language selection, more like a written form of speech, therefore SMS cannot be considered ‘written’. The language of SMS is combination of numerous aspects of two very different types of communication and can only be described as a spoken mode in a written medium.

To me SMS did not corrupting our language but it improve our language and pronouns. This is because we write SMS base on pronoun we spoke and write in shorter phrase.

Is it true that sms is corrupting our language?? Of course not!! It seem that sound silly but it is the truth and the fact. this is because sms is a language code through mobile for communication that absolutely cannot corrupt our language as long as we can understand the language each other. it is same like Braille code for blind people and Morse code for telegraphs. is it these code are corrupting our language, meanwhile they are using short and simple word??
Remember that, S.M.S is stand for SHORT MASSAGE SERVICE .And sms language possible for quick communication equal to modern communication technology
but must use for informal matter .For formal matter necessary to use full abbreviation .The language still not damaged if no SMS language interrupt of our formal language.
So, please don’t blame this language code that make our life simple and easy during communication through this small gadget (handphone).
Please make it yourself easy and simple ..
